TypeDash
Find your rhythm.
Type the passage. Clear the rooftops. Come back for one more race.
Pick your race
- Quick Play
- Join a race at your pace. Matchmaking takes about five seconds, followed by racer arrivals and the countdown.
- Daily Dash
- One shared passage each UTC day. Your best time is saved and ranked automatically on the Keyboard or Touch leaderboard; use Hide me on the board to stay off it.
- Race Points
- Every eligible finished race earns points. Open Leaderboard → Race Points for Today, Weekly, Monthly and All-time standings with average WPM. Keyboard and Touch are ranked separately.
- Race with friends
- Choose the passage settings, share your room and race with up to six players. The host starts when everyone is ready and can add racers to open seats.
- Solo Practice
- Warm up on the classic passage against a simulated ghost at your chosen pace.
Words move you forward
Type each word exactly, then press Space. Correct mistakes with Backspace before moving on. The final word finishes your run without an extra space. Capitals and punctuation count when they are included in the passage.
Quick Play uses lowercase stories, facts and dialogue without punctuation for both Keyboard and Touch. Your input choice is in Settings. Daily Dash keeps capitals and punctuation.
Read your result
WPM means words per minute, counting five characters as one word. Accuracy reflects correct insertion attempts, including mistakes you later corrected. Your result also shows your race time and finish position.
Keyboard and touch records stay separate. Live race times use the shared room clock. Practice and ghost-challenge times are measured by our server, from its confirmed start to when it receives your finish; your device's timing only places your keystrokes within that time. A recorded ghost shows a real run's word-by-word progress, not every keystroke.
Bring someone along
After a finished run saves, choose Challenge a friend. They race a recording of your progress on the exact same passage. Your original opponent does not join them. Share Daily score invites them to that day’s Daily; a private-room invite brings them into a live lobby.
You choose the public name on your shared links. Manage and revoke those links in My runs.
Share on X opens X’s post composer in a new tab with a prefilled message and your link. You can edit it or close it; nothing is posted unless you post it on X. TypeDash does not post for you or read your X account, and you don’t need a TypeDash account to use it. If a Discord link is shown, it opens Discord’s own invite page, where Discord’s terms apply. With product analytics on, TypeDash records only that the link was opened, not whether you joined.
Turn ideas into typing races
Open Custom challenge to write an original English passage, or ask TypeDash Challenges in your assistant to prepare a draft. Try “Make a funny typing challenge about a cat running a rooftop cafe,” “Make a beginner-friendly robot tea shop race,” or “Make this draft funnier and under 200 characters.”
Review and edit the passage, choose Lock it in, then finish your race. Once it saves, Challenge a friend creates a link to your recorded ghost. Friends can play without installing the plugin or creating an account. Preparing a draft alone does not record a ghost or send an invitation.
Use 100–280 characters of original English text. Keep it friendly and leave out links, private information and copyrighted passages. If validation fails, follow the editor’s message and revise the draft. If a challenge has ended, ask its creator for a new link. Report inappropriate passages or problems to team@typedash.com; include the challenge link so we can investigate. See custom challenge privacy for storage and sharing details.
Playing on a phone?
Tap the race button to open your keyboard. If you dismiss it, tap the passage to keep typing—the clock keeps running. For smoother graphics, choose Balanced, Light or 2D. Larger typing text and Reduced motion are in Settings.
If the connection drops, follow the reconnect message. Wait for any retry countdown before trying again. Your accepted progress is restored when the room is still available.
Save your progress
You never need an account to play. Where sign-in is offered, Save progress (on your results and in My runs) or Sign in (in the top bar) opens the TypeDash account page, where you can keep your races and Racer Level with an account and pick them up on another device. When you finish, you return to where you were; your last run stays in My runs. Enter your email address and type the 6-digit code we send, or use Google or X when those buttons appear. If you opened TypeDash inside another app, such as Instagram or Facebook, Google and X sign-in may not work there: use an email code, or open typedash.com in your usual browser.
Signing in starts a fresh account history. Save progress, or the prompt that shows this browser’s races, adds this browser’s earlier guest runs to your account; nothing is added without that choice. On a new device, just sign in again with the same email, Google or X account. Sign out or delete your account from the Account panel. See Privacy for what is stored.
Your data
Settings › Privacy & data turns product analytics and error reports off or on, and can ask us to delete your analytics data. The game works the same either way. Analytics never include what you type, your display name or your links.
